ThresholdCOD Rules for WooCommerce

Guides

Set a minimum and maximum order value for COD in WooCommerce

A refused order costs the same to ship whether it is small or large, but you lose far more on a large one. Limits keep COD where it is cheap to be wrong.

The maximum

Pick the value above which a refusal would hurt. Above it, hide COD or ask for an advance. A common approach is to keep COD for everyday orders and require a deposit on expensive ones.

The minimum

Very small orders can cost more to ship and collect than they earn. A minimum is optional, but worth testing if small COD orders are a large share of your refusals.

What to show above the limit

  • Hide COD and let the customer pay online.
  • Keep COD but ask for an advance.
  • Show a message that explains the limit.

Check the result

After a month, compare refusal rate and order count. If conversion fell more than refusals did, loosen the cap or switch to an advance instead of a ban.

How Threshold does it. Show COD only between the minimum and maximum you set, or use a rule to ask for an advance above a value. See the rules docs.

Questions

Is there a default COD limit in WooCommerce?

No. WooCommerce has no value limit for COD, so you need a plugin or custom code.

Should I ban COD above the cap or ask for an advance?

An advance usually keeps more sales. Test both and compare.
